How Can I Pray for My Children?

The Power of Prayer

Praying for your kids – it’s like the ultimate superpower. You’re calling on the Creator of the universe to watch over your little ones. So, how do you do it effectively?

Pray for Their Faith

First, pray for their faith. Colossians 1:9-10 is a great place to start: “We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way.” Pray that they grow in their knowledge of God and live lives that honor Him.

Pray for Their Protection

Next, pray for their protection. Psalm 121:7-8 says, “The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” As a parent, you want your kids to be safe. Pray for God’s protection over them in every situation.

Pray for Their Character

Pray for their character. Galatians 5:22-23 lists the fruits of the Spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Pray that these qualities grow in your children.

Pray for Their Future

Pray for their future. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that God has plans for them – “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Pray for their future endeavors, relationships, and careers, trusting that God has a good plan for their lives.

The Sum Up

Praying for your kids involves praying for their faith, protection, character, and future. It’s about trusting God to take care of them and guide them. And remember, prayer isn’t just a one-time thing. It’s a continuous conversation with God about the most precious people in your life.
